¡¤ About the Institute

History
    The Center for Studies of Intellectual Property Rights of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (hereinafter called ¡°CSIPR¡±) is one of the earliest institutions engaging in teaching and research on Intellectual Property Rights in China. Its predecessor was the Intellectual Property Rights Teaching and Study Center which was set up in 1988 and renamed as CSIPR of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in 2000.It was authorized as the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities by the Ministry of Education of People¡¯s Republic of China on Nov.26, 2004.
    CSIPR is headed by Director. At present Professor Wu Handong is Director of CSIPR. CSIPR¡¯s research fellow are from Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political science and Law, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Hokkaido University (Japan), Michigan State University (U.S.A), L¡¯ Universite¡¯ Rene¡¯ Descartes-Paris 5 (France), Wolfenbuettel Industrial University (Niedersachsen, Germany).

Mission and Aims
In accordance with the Five Criteria for Establishing the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities set by the Ministry of Education, CSIPR commits itself to developing as a key Institute for Intellectual Property Rights research, professional trainings, academic exchanges, information collection and consultation services. Its priorities are to conduct Intellectual Property Rights law researches, to lead and promote Intellectual Property Rights law development, to enhance international cooperation and exchanges in Intellectual Property Rights law field, to study Intellectual Property Rights law and its latest development in China and foreign countries, and to provide suggestions for the legal construction and judicial reform of China.
¡¤ To remain as the first class academic research institute in china, to play the leading and coordinative roles in Intellectual Property Rights Law field, to become a core of national Intellectual Property Rights law academic exchanges, and become the important scientific research base at home and abroad.
¡¤To cultivate highly-qualified experts of Intellectual Property Rights law through academic research and activities, and fully play the role as a highly-qualified experts-training base of Intellectual Property Rights law.
¡¤To make an effort to construct an Intellectual Property Rights Law resources center with advanced facilities and an Intellectual Property Rights Law Research Information Exchange Center in China, to publish the academic journals such as Forum of Intellectual Property and construct the website www.iprcn.com so as to promote the academic research and information exchanges.
¡¤To participate in State legislation and judicial consultation, to actively undertake projects for various legal practice departments, to provide society with legal service and consultation in various forms, and to develop itself as the ¡°think-tank¡± and consultation body of Intellectual Property Rights law in China.
¡¤To continue academic exchange and cooperation with counterparts at home and abroad, to widen academic views, and to ensure the projects and research topics being in the advanced position in the special field.
    In the Intellectual Economy Era, Intellectual Property Rights is at its critical time for development and innovation. We sincerely hope to work with our peers to make a joint effort for the coordinative development of material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization so as to reach our goal- Rule of Law.
