The institute focus on the following research subjects:
，1)In order to establish a new Intangible Property Theoretical System and Framework, we do the research on basic theory and concrete regulations with copyright, patent and trademark as the main objectives and other IPR system as supplement.
，2) In terms of methodology, we regard the IPR relevant areas as our new research objects and probe the relationships between the Intellectual Property Rights and economy, society, technology, human rights, environment and the other relevant subjects.
，3) On the background of the integration and internationalization of Intellectual Property Rights in the 21st century, we do the comparative research on Intellectual Property Rights between different regions in China, and that between other countries and China to provide the guidelines for the promising Intellectual Property Rights trade at home and abroad.
，4) In perspective of social development and on the social background of modern science & technology, traditional culture, market economy and spiritual civilization construction, we do the research on the development of Intellectual Property Right and set an achievable goal.
，Focusing our attention on the IPR problems in new and hi-tech, we discuss the global high-tech impact on Intellectual Property Rights, the protection of copyright in the Internet Era and the problem of gene patent under the new technical innovation.

After nearly 20 years of hard work, CSIPR has gained some achievements:
，It has built an excellent research team. This modern research team is composed of the researchers with good educational background, high professional quality, reasonable knowledge structure, wide field of vision and good prospects, who come from inside and outside of our university, at home and abroad.
，It has set a clear academic goal. Intellectual Property Rights is an interdisciplinary course which contains Jurisprudence, Economics, Management, Politics, Philosophy and Ethnics, etc. CSIPR has solid theory foundation and much practical experience in the field. It has set its academic goal with prominent characteristics and eminent advantages.
，It has established an open academic platform. CSIPR has authorized as the Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities by Ministry of Education. The advanced infrastructure and material resources enable CSIPR to work out the IPR strategy, to complete the IPR system and to supply an open platform for IPR management, supervision and academic research.
，It has constructed a rich database. There are a lot of professional books and periodicals in Chinese, English, and Japanese and the latest professional books and other materials will be purchased continuously. All of these resources can meet the needs of the researchers of CSIPR, the scholars inside and outside the university and the graduate students in our university.
