The institute has gained the remarkable achievements on academic research, academic exchanges, and professional training:
¡€Well-grounded in the teaching and research. We have started the course of Intellectual Property Rights ever since 1986 and took the lead in compiling the textbook with the title of Intellectual Property Rights Law. Up to now, the researchers of CSIPR have had more than 10 IPR textbooks or reference books for undergraduate or graduate law students published, which are listed in the following textbooks series: Law Textbooks of Higher Education, Unified Law Textbooks of Main Law Courses under Ministry of Justice, the ¡®Tenth Five-Year¡¯ Planning Textbooks at State Level, National Self-Taught Textbooks, and the National ¡®Tenth Five-Year¡¯ Key Publications Plan-Law Graduates¡¯ Reference Books for 21st Century.
¡€Fruitful and high-quality of academic achievements. From 1980s on, CSIPR has undertaken more than 30 key research projects at state, ministerial or provincial levels, including the Key Philosophy and Social Sciences Program under Ministry of Education, the National Social Sciences Fund Program, the National Natural Sciences Fund Program, and the Soft Science Program under Ministry of Science & Technology. The Center has also had more than 40 research books published, such as Research on Copyright Fair Use, Research on Intangible Property System, Comparative Research on Copyright in Western Countries, Comparative Research on China Regional Copyright, and Intellectual Property Rights Law towards Intellectual Economy Era and so on. More than 350 theses have been published in Journal of China Social Sciences, China Legal Science, CASS Journal of Law. Many of the achievements are in the leading place, so that we received 20 more state, ministerial and provincial prizes, including National Prize for the First Excellent Doctorate Dissertation, the First Prize for Excellent Legal Textbooks and Excellent Legal Research Achievements under Ministry of Justice, the First Prize for Excellent Social Sciences Achievements in Hubei Province (Governmental Prize) and the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Advancement in Wuhan.
¡€Putting theory into practice. Quite a few of the achievements of CSIPR are practical and constructive, which are often adopted by the governments at all levels when they make the relevant policies on Intellectual Property. In recent years, we have participated in the drafting and testifying process of some laws and regulations, such as Civil Code, Copyright Law, Trade Mark Law, Patent Law and Regulation on Protection of Information Internet Dissemination Right, etc. In addition, we have submitted some consultative reports to the relevant ministries and the local government which bring about great social influence.
¡€Carrying on the academic exchanges in various forms. CSIPR has established the long-term friendly cooperative relations with Hokkaido University, the key IPR research institution authorized by Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. At the same time, we keep in close touch with dozens of academic institutes, universities and other entities from the U. S., Italy, Germany and France by carrying on academic communication and exchanging the visiting scholars on a large scale.
¡€Attaching great importance to the professional trainings of highly- qualified IPR experts. CSIPR staffs engage in the teaching of Civil & Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Rights Law for years. We have enrolled 15 groups of LL.M candidates and 5 groups of LL.D candidates respectively. After graduating from our university, they become the key professionals and leaders of central and local governments, universities and institutes.
